Respect for Human Rights
JUKI Group Human Rights Policy
The JUKI Group, as a member of a global company, has formulated a “Corporate Code of Conduct” and an “Employees’ Code of Conduct” to respect fundamental human rights and conduct its business activities with due regard for human rights towards the realization a core JUKI corporate philosophy: “The men and women of JUKI work hand in hand to spread happiness and enrich society.” The JUKI Group shall furthermore aim to be a company that not only pursues the company's profits through fair competition, but has essential value to its customers, shareholders, business partners, employees, and society.
Recognizing that all of its business activities may directly or indirectly affect human rights, the JUKI Group hereby formulates a “JUKI Group Human Rights Policy” (the “Policy”) to ensure that the human rights of all people involved in the Group's business are respected.
1Positioning and Scope of this Policy
This policy supplements the “Corporate Code of Conduct” and the “Employees’ Code of Conduct” and expresses the JUKI Group's basic approach to respect for human rights, and applies to all officers and employees of the JUKI Group (including employees on loan, contract employees, part-time employees, and temporary employees working for the JUKI Group).
The JUKI Group also expect its business partners, including its suppliers and outsourcing vendors related to the Group’s products and services, to make every effort to understand, endorse, and comply with this policy.
2Respect for international norms on human rights
The JUKI Group, as a global business company, shall endorse and respect the principles concerning fundamental human rights as set forth in international norms such as the “International Bill of Human Rights” and the “ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work” of the International Labour Organization (ILO), based on the “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” of the United Nations, and comply with the laws and regulations of every country and region in which it operates.
In cases where the domestic laws and regulations of a country differ from internationally recognized human rights norms, the JUKI Group shall pursue methods that respect internationally recognized human rights norms to the maximum extent possible.
3Respect for the human rights of, and engagement with, stakeholders
The JUKI Group respects the human rights of all stakeholders involved in the Group's business throughout the value chain. To this end, the JUKI Group shall continue to engage in productive dialogue with relevant stakeholders to understand human rights issues and strive to improve and solve them.
4Human right due diligence
The JUKI Group shall identify any negative impacts on human rights that may occur through its business activities. The JUKI Group shall also create a mechanism for human rights due diligence and continuously work to investigate, prevent, mitigate, and correct negative impacts on human rights.
5Relief measures
The JUKI Group shall work to correct and remedy a situation through appropriate means if it becomes clear that the Group's business activities are causing or fomenting any negative impacts on human rights. The JUKI Group shall encourage its suppliers and other business partners to take corrective action if the Group's products or services are in any way involved in negative impacts on human rights.
The JUKI Group shall also protect whistleblowers and consulters from any disadvantageous treatment arising from their actions in whistle-blowing or consulting with us.
6Education and training
The JUKI Group shall continuously provide all officers and employees of all of its Group companies with the education and training necessary to put this policy into practice.
7Information Disclosure
The JUKI Group shall periodically disclose the progress of its initiatives based on this policy.
8Policy Revisions
The JUKI Group shall continuously review and improve this policy.
