What is a Household Sewing Machine?

User-friendly sewing machines that spark creativity in sewing

What is a household sewing machine?

A household sewing machine is designed for safe, intuitive use by every person. Even beginners get a feel for the machine and a grasp of the operating techniques after only a short period of operation.
The various “sewing functions” incorporated into JUKI’s household sewing machines enable the sewing of general items such as blouses, bags and small articles with just one machine. Within the category of household sewing machines, there are three types: “household sewing machines,” “professional sewing machines,” and “compact overlock sewing machines.”

JUKI’s various household sewing machines

Household sewing machines

One sewing machine is capable of performing wide range of different sewing operations such as straight stitching, zigzag stitching, pattern sewing, letter stitching and buttonholing.
Several JUKI household sewing machine models are equipped with the functions to ensure easy operability for novice users: an automatic thread tension control function and a reverse stitch and automatic thread trimming function activated with the touch of a button. Separate lineups of electronic sewing machines and computer-controlled sewing machines are also available from JUKI.

Professional sewing machines

This is a downsized and portable version of the industrial lockstitch machine (specialized in straight stitching). The machine can finish a broad range of fabrics from light- to heavy-weight with beautiful seams.
The machine’s enhanced force for the fabric-feed and needle-penetration into fabrics ensure the smooth sewing of heavy-weight materials such as curtains and jeans. Equipped with the same presser feet and attachments as those used for JUKI’s industrial sewing machines, it beautifully finishes even difficult-to-sew or well-designed areas of fabrics.

Compact overlock sewing machines

This machine, a downsized and portable version of JUKI’s specialized industrial overlock chain stitch machine, is used to prevent the fraying of fabric edges (overlock chain stitch). It can perform full-scale overlock chain stitch, which is different from the overcasting done on a household sewing machine. It also performs outstandingly in joining knit fabrics and elastic fabrics together. When used in combination with a JUKI professional sewing machine, it can finish both outer and inner fabrics with authentic seams like ready-made fabrics.
