2 Head High-speed placement and area production are achieved Launch of LX-8 Advanced Flexible Mounter
JUKI Corporation (head office: Tama City, Tokyo, hereinafter referred to as “JUKI”) will release the LX-8. Advanced flexible mounter, domestically and overseas August 8.
The LX-8 is a versatile mounter with dramatically faster placement speeds and the ability to place a wide range of component types and sizes using two of Juki’s proprietary Takumi head*1 units, which are the main mechanisms for picking and placing electronic components, has doubled the mounting speed.
The size of the next generation Takumi head has been reduced to increase the placement area without increasing the machine’s footprint.
Industry trends, such as 5G mobile communications, autonomous self-driving cars, and AI are creating a need for faster placement speeds on more complex PCBs.
The versatility of the LX-8 allows it to be used a wide range of applications, for a wide range of components, from extremely small parts up to large, 65mm diagonal parts.
Future developments will include a new P20S Planet head*2 for high speed placement. Users will be able to choose between the Takumi head for flexibility or the P20S Planet head for speed, for each of the two stations on the LX-8.
The heads can be easily exchanged according to the production requirements. With two P20S Planet heads, the LX-8 will be a high speed mounter. With one P20S Planet head and one Takumi head, the LX-8 will be a fast, but flexible mounter. And with two Takumi heads, users will have a very flexible system for a wide range of applications.
The LX-8 connects to JUKI’s JaNets integrated system software. JaNets provides factory wide offline programming, line monitoring, storage management, and remote support capabilities to improve overall factory efficiency.
JUKI Smart Solutions enables users to build flexible and efficient production lines.
Features of the LX-8 Takumi head specifications
1.Dual head high-speed mounting and higher speed per given floor space than previous generation.
Twice the speed and only slightly larger than the previous generation results in 1.9x improvement
2. Extreme flexibility
Components from 0.3mm×0.15mm up to 65 mm square, 10mm×90 mm, or50 mm x 75 mm and up to 25mm tall.
3. Highest feeder capacity
Best-in-class feeder capacity of 160 positions. A wide range of component types can be mounted, which greatly reduces setup time and simplifies and improves efficiency in production preparation.
4. User-friendly software
The LX-8 features a completely new user interface designed to be similar to smart phones. Gestures and other operations make it easier to learn and operate. High-priority functions can be arranged on the top screen and multiple languages are supported.
5. Reduced power consumption and visualization
The LX-8 uses significantly less electricity than previous models. Power consumption is displayed on the operation screen giving better awareness of energy conservation.
