Juki Corporation brought a patent infringement action in the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court against two companies infringing design patents owned by Juki Corporation. The design patents had been granted by China’s State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) for the appearance design of industrial sewing machines.

We hereby notify you that, on September 19, 2008, the Court ruled in favour of Juki Corporation, prohibiting the defendants from manufacturing and selling the infringing products and ordering the defendants to pay monetary damages to Juki Corporation [First Instance Judgment of the No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court, File Nos. 10429 and 10427 (2008)].

The design patents that are the subject of this lawsuit have been granted by SIPO to Juki Corporation (Design Patent No. ZL00305905.7 and Design Patent No. ZL01340679.5) for the Company’s exclusive use in the appearance design of sewing machines.

We intend to proceed with legal action against these infringements, taking a firm stand in order to protect the principle of fair market competition and prevent the supply of inferior products to consumers.
