The LX-8 high-speed flexible mounter, a product to be released in August 2023 by JUKI CORPORATION (headquartered in Tama-shi, Tokyo; hereinafter “JUKI”), has received top prize in the 54th Machine Design Award (IDEA), a Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award sponsored by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd.
The Machine Design Award (IDEA) was established in 1970 to promote and develop the design of Japanese industrial products. This year marks the 54th edition of the award, which is both historic and prestigious. Many of the award-winning products to date have been highly acclaimed as forefront products that presage the direction of design in their respective eras. This year, JUKI LX-8 was selected as a top-prize winner out of 32 entries from 29 companies.
The LX-8 is a high-speed flexible mounter that achieves the highest speed in its class with a two-head design and the high area productivity in a space saving footprint. Amid the rise of new industry forces such as EVs and robots, JUKI was recognized for its proactive efforts to improve productivity while solving social challenges with innovations in areas such as labor saving, de-skilling, and environmental friendliness.
JUKI will continue to create products and solutions that help solve challenges at manufacturing sites and in society, as a partner that stays close to customers, evolves their production sites, and jump-starts their businesses.

What is the Machine Design Award (IDEA)?
Since its establishment in 1970, this award has been sponsored by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, Ltd. with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and various industrial organizations. A judging committee made up of experts from related ministries, universities, and various industrial organizations comprehensively evaluates not only the functions and appearances of the product, but also its marketability, social nature, and safety, and other aspects. This year marks the 54th edition of the Design Award.
