JUKI Launches Fast Smart Modular Mounter RS-2 Achieving Industry-Leading Placement

Tokyo, Japan — January 14, 2025— JUKI Corporation (Head Office: Tama City, Tokyo) is excited to announce the release of the Fast Smart Modular Mounter RS-2, a high-performance mounting machine equipped with enhanced features for faster, more efficient component placement on printed circuit boards. The RS-2, now available in Japan and internationally, is designed to boost productivity and quality, catering to diverse production demands.

The RS-2 is a next-generation all-in-one mounter designed for electronic component placement in printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. Unlike traditional high-speed or general-purpose machines, this versatile mounter accommodates a broad range of production needs. Since the RS Series’ initial launch in 2017, JUKI has continued to enhance placement speeds, making the RS-2 popular with customers worldwide.

The RS-2 features the proprietary TAKUMI head※1, which adjusts the sensor height to match component height for optimal efficiency. This model achieves a remarkable 6% increase in placement speed due to software improvements, reaching a best-in-class rate of 50,000 CPH※2 under optimal conditions. The RS-2 supports a wide component range, from 0.3mm x 0.15mm up to 74mm x 50mm, with placement capabilities for components up to 25mm in height.

With evolving demands from industries like EV and AI, the need for precise, high-density component placement is on the rise. JUKI’s RS-2 addresses these needs by offering both speed and versatility, making it suitable for complex production environments. The RS-2 can be paired with the Advanced Flexible Mounter LX-8 to create a high-speed, flexible production line capable of multi-product, small-lot, and variable-quantity production, catering to sophisticated SMT production requirements.

Key Features of the RS-2:

(1)Achieving Top-Level 50,000 CPH in a Single-Head Mounter

The RS-2 reaches an optimal 50,000 CPH by positioning the laser sensor closer to the board and minimizing travel time between pick-up and placement.

(2)“TAKUMI Head” Technology for Optimal Sensor Adjustment

The TAKUMI head adjusts the laser sensor height based on component height automatically, realizing high accuracy. Parts of different heights, from very small component to large one, are mounted at the optimal and highest speed.

(3)Broad Component Compatibility

The RS-2 supports component sizes from 0.3mm x 0.15mm up to 50mm x 150mm (or □74mm), with placement capabilities for components up to 25mm in height, covering a wide range of applications.

(4)Up to 112 feeders for flexible and efficient production

Designed for high accuracy, the compact RF feeder can hold up to 112 units (front and rear combined), making it ideal for various components of high-efficiency, multi-product, small-lot production with reduced setup times.

(5)Advanced, high-precision and high-speed new coplanarity sensors.

It detects the floating of the lead of the lead component and the deformation of the ball of the BGA to prevent the installation of defective parts.
By performing a high-precision coplanarity check, the reliability of the product is further enhanced.
