Full-scale entry into the visual inspection business for automobile-related parts, etc.!
Launch of the new SE1000 visual inspection machine for a wide range of applications with a single unit.

Product

“JUKI Corporation, a general manufacturer of electronic board mounting equipment (Head Office: Tama City, Tokyo, President: Shinsuke Uchinashi, hereinafter referred to as “”JUKI””), has launched the Visual Inspection Machine SE1000 on December 27, 2021, which detects defects such as scratches, dents, burrs, foreign objects, dirt, chipping, and deformation, as well as other defects in metallic components. Also, the unique developed optical technologies developed by JUKI make it possible to measure dimensions, area, angle, and shapes.
All these inspection capabilities make JUKI enter the visual inspection business on a full scale.”

This machine is an automatic high-speed and high-accuracy inspection machine capable of inspecting appearance defects in metal parts such as those related to automobiles.JUKI has a high-speed 12 million-pixel size-frame-rate CMOS camera, a high-speed imaging processing, a clear vision capturing system of three-stage of white illumination, and a coaxial light for the inspection and detection of defects of metal parts with the capability to inspect an area of up to 600mm wide by 590mm deep by 300mm height.
In addition, by mounting a head unit *1 that moves up and down (z-axis), a higher level of precision inspection can be achieved. This provides an optimum focus to match the object to be inspected.
At present, visual inspections by people and sensory inspections are carried out at automobile factories and machinery factories, as well as visual inspections using special-purpose machines for each part. The new JUKI SE1000 is a high-speed, high-precision visual inspection machine used for a wide variety of applications using a single unit.
This automatic inspection machine helps increase efficiency by replacing manual inspection processes with automated ones, which helps eliminate special training for the users and overall labor-saving for our customers.

Feature

1. Realization of high-precision inspection with excellent versatility

  • JUKI’s proprietary optical techniques
  • Equipped with a 12 million-pixel high-frame-rate CMOS camera, using high-brightness white three-stage LED illumination and coaxial illumination, this system captures clear images and enables inspection of various components up to 600mm wide by 590mm deep by 300mm height, with a high inspection accuracy of 12μm.

  • Device rigidity assurance and technology that reduces discrepancies in test results between machines.
  • The frame that serves as the basis of the device employs casting, and the frame design technology such as CAE/modal analysis and servo characteristic analysis realizes high-speed operation of the optical head unit with a frame of high rigidity.
In addition, correction technologies such as XY-axis position between devices, illumination brightness, white balance, and resolution maintain the high repeatability of the device and realize “no machine difference” with no individual difference.
Multiple locations and multiple devices can be centrally managed with the same inspection programs both locally and overseas.
    *CAE: Computer-Aided Analysis

  • The vertically variable head unit (optional) for higher inspection level.
  • The vertically variable (z-axis) head unit automatically adjusts the camera height to match the height of the object to be inspected.
Images are taken with a high focus to achieve a higher-precision appearance inspection.

  • The addition of the laser measurement (optional) enables inspection of scratch depth.
  • For areas requiring inspection such as scratch depth, a detailed inspection can be performed by adding an optional laser measurement.

    2. All-in-one inspection machine

The entire supply chain, including developing hardware and software such as lights, cameras, and computing software, is operated by JUKI groupwide system.
We have established a support system that ensures safe and reliable use, such as quality assurance and maintenance, not only in Japan but also at bases around the world.

    3. 2D and 3D inspections can be selected.

Depending on the application of the inspection, 2D inspection and 3D inspection can be selected.
In addition, high-speed inspections are realized by adopting CMOS cameras with 12 million pixel high frame rates and using high-speed arithmetic circuitry.

    2D inspection: 0.25 sec/FOV
    3D inspection: 0.7 sec/FOV
*FOV: Field of View (field of view)

4.There are program creation modes for both beginners and advanced users.

There are two types of program creation, template and process mode, and even beginners can easily create programs in template mode.
The “Template mode” is a quick programming method that automatically generates new packages using high-performance and pre-made inspection templates. Furthermore, the unique “Process mode” provides the flexibility to create a more detailed inspection program for special requirements to further the detection capability.

    5. JUKI realizes in-line inspections and offers full transportation solutions of inspected objects through an in-line process.

Customization of transportation and jigs also enables in-line inspection and inspections of fine scratches that could not be detected by a one-way camera scanning.
This system allows automatic inspections of high-height parts and important machined parts, such as engine blocks and side mirrors, which have been difficult to automate until now.

    6. Use a pre-inspection for measured by three-dimensional measuring machine, etc.

By taking advantage of the high-speed and high-precision features of the SE1000, it can be placed at intermediate stages of an in-line process to replace manual sampling inspections with a 100% automated inspection control before the final inspections by a 3D inspection machine.
In addition, by mounting a head unit *1 that moves up and down (z-axis), a higher level of precision inspection can be achieved.
This provides an optimum focus to match the object to be inspected.
